Kings Mutual Moves up the Ladder

The Wildcats are on the prowl as they claw their way into fourth place with a big 6-4 win on Sunday over the ACCEL Hawks.

On Sunday at the Halifax Forum, the visiting Kings team built up a 4-0 lead after two periods with two goals by Drake Batherson and Jabes Benedict and Brett Tidman adding singles.  The third period had the home town Hawks make the game interesting as Johhny Jones, Campbell Pickard, Michael O'Leary and Connor Welsh scored;  but, the Wildcats Makail Parker with one early and one more at the end of the third made sure the Wildcats went home with the two points.

Sunday's Summaries

Scotsburn Crushers 2, Breton Sports Cougars 2:  The Cougars got a first period marker from Ryan Wilson and added another by Callum MacLean in the second to take a 2-0 lead into the third period.  In the third, the visiting Crushers Evan MacLenan and Chris Booker scored to tie the game as the Crushers left Cape Breton with three of a possible four points.

BMO Western Hurricanes 5, Bedford Barons 3:  The Hurricanes got their second win of the weekend over the Barons with a close battle at the Eleanor Pew Memorial Arena in Chester.  Western built up a 4-0 lead with two goals by Jordan Messenger and singles from Dominic O'Halloran and Mitchell Baker only to watch Bedford's Nick MacFarlane, Jordan Boyd, and Ryan Yould score three goals in a seven minute span to open the third.  This prompted a goal tender change by the Hurricanes and as Bedford were pressing for the tying goal, an empty net score by Jordan Messenger with thirty seconds left  foiled Bedford's come back attempt.

Nova Jr. X Men 4, MCK Ice Dawgs 4:  In a rare event, the MCK Ice Dawgs were in Port Hawkesbury to host the Nova Jr. X Men.  The guests playing in their usual abode built up a 4-1 lead heading into the third before the Dawgs got accustomed to their temporary digs in the third and scored three unanswered goals to knot the score at four. Kyle Randall with two and singles from Noah Whebby and Tristan Giasson paced the attack.  Scoring for the X Men were Donovan Rehill, Randon MacKinnon, Colby Tower and Declan Smith.

Newbridge Academy Senators 3, Pro Hockey Life Harbour Storm 7: Captain Layton Parsons once again led the Storm to a decisive victory over the visiting Senators.  Layton spread his scoring throughout the whole game as he fired at least one goal in each period and ended the game with four goals and two assists.  Alexander Bungay, Jordan Sallows and Dillon Boucher added to the total. Scoring for Newbridge was handled by Alex MacDonald, Aaron Maillet and Ryan MacDonald.

Truro Bearcats 4, Bubba Rays Gulls 6:  In a late afternoon tilt at the Halifax Forum, the spunky Truro Bearcats kept the Bubba Rays on their guard;  but, they could not contain the Gulls Noah Bauld as he broke out with four goals on the game.  Drew Packman added one and Logan MacLennan with a short handed marker late in the third sealed the victory.  Aaron Coleman with two, Lucas Holman and Quinn Fullerton with one each completed the Truro slate.
